One week after what was to be Spring Break for our Tallahassee area families, this Center started providing our Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Telepractice Services.

As the Founder and Director of Children’s Communication Center, I want to assure you that we are committed to the health and safety of you and your family. Therefore, based on the current recommendations for social distancing, we have transitioned to the sole use of our Telepractice for Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services.
The coronavirus has rearranged our lives and schedules, but we are determined to continue providing SLP & related services to our current, alum, and new families through our Telepractice.
We know the importance of routines for our little ones, and if we are honest, all of us. Our use of Telepractice will establish consistency and familiarity during this challenging time. And, that will be beneficial for each of us. Stay safe and well!
“See” you soon,
Welcome to Children’s Communication Center’s newest option for providing our high quality, well managed, and professional Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Corporate Speech Communication (CSCS) services.
Based on guidelines from The American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association, the term Telepractice has been adopted for our SLP services. However, you may also hear the terms telehealth, teletherapy, telemedicine, telespeech and speech teletherapy.
Telepractice connects you (the client/patient) to the us (the Speech-Language Pathologist) at a different location. The addition of telepractice will allow us to expand how we deliver our SLP services to your and your families.
Telepractice is not a different service, rather it is a different option for delivering our services.
The platform that we select for our SLP telepractice will allow us to communicate via the internet. You/your family will incur no additional fees or need any special device programs. However, you will need to have a reliable internet connection, a computer or device with a webcam, and speakers or headset.
According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), “Telepractice has been used to evaluate and treat people of all ages. Researchers have found few differences between telepractice and in-person services…”
Telepractice is used widely with toddlers through adults for the full range of SLP & related services.
When Will Telepractice Be Available?
Our Director, Lori Savage Grayson, designed this Center’s telepractice option with a roll out date corresponding with May is Better Hearing and Speech Month 2020 where the theme will be “Communication at Work”. Our telepractice services launched in March 2020.
What About In-Person Sessions?
Telepractice sessions are in addition to our current delivery service options. Together with the SLP, each family will determine the best option. No one delivery service excludes another. So, you can schedule in-person and/or with telepractice as appropriate.
What Is The Training For Providing Telepractice Services?
While there are no specific requirements, ASHA does recommend that “…professionals need training or experience to deliver services at a distance.” We are proud to share that our Director, has both!
How Do I Learn More?

When a box arrives on a Saturday afternoon and your husband suggests you open it, well you open it!
A new beautiful pie plate inside with a sweet note, “A treat for YaYa’s Kitchen!”
It is true, life is timing as YoYo just picked tomatoes at a local farm and also came home with fresh Georgia peaches. Our fridge and freezer are also filled with hand-picked with local organic blueberries the two weekends prior.
